The true definition of influencer according to the Cambridge dictionary, is someone who affects or changes the way that other people behave, even after defining what influencer means, people tend to use it only to describe Social Media Stars, by doing so, people misunderstand the idea of what it truly takes to become an influencer, the impact of making a change, and minimizing its true purpose, for that reason, I’d like to state the term influencer isn’t just excluded to social media stars, during our lives, we have met people who made a great impact and made us think outside the box.

Let me explain what I’m talking about to all the lovely readers, for we’re about to explore that influencing people doesn’t need social media presence. 

Starting from the beginning of our existence, we can see how we got influenced from an early age, for instance, we see a soccer player that motivates us to pick up a ball and learn how to play soccer, watching a movie that inspires us to do better and become nicer to each other, reading a book that makes us look at life in another perspective, this what influence is, making a change into someone’s life, regardless of tiny that change might be, it’s still important to someone’s life, so from the way I see it, there are two types of influence:

• Physical influence
• Mental/motivational influence

Each category has its impact, Let’s discuss even further.

 1- Physical Influence

This type of influence might come in the shape of persuading you to change your appearance, getting you invested in sports, yoga, or fitness in general, and have a healthy life.

For example, when watching a Bruce Lee movie, it inspires you to learn all the moves to become martial artist, starting with searching for classes to attend, personal trainer to guide you through the challenges, followed by a nutritionist that writes down the dietary plan you need to follow…etc

Now that we’ve finished explaining the physical influence, let’s move on to the next type.

2- Mental/Motivational Influence

Watching a TEDx talk by a life coach, who’s talking about his experiences, hardships, and triumph, in hopes to make other people aspire for greatness and to do something monumental in their lives, whether it involves career choices, reaching spirituality, removing mental illness stigma or just helping someone improve his/her skills, people view these actions as simple & non-critical changes, however, their effect carries a lot of influence and impact a person’s life. 

A book, quote, or a conversation can affect anyone, this is the meaning of mental/motivational influence, which people with a huge audience, and large followings have.

Long story short, anyone who can affect people’s lives is an influential person, this includes artists, doctors, businessmen, and more, they are the people who have value to add to society.
