Cara Delevingne

Cara Delevingne speaks out about her sexuality

"I am very happy how sexuality has become easier and freer to talk about, especially for kids"

30 Jun 2017

Friday 30 June 2017

Cara Delevingne is the cover star of our sister mag from across the pond. In an interview with fellow model, and friend, Adwoa Aboah, the model-turned-actress opened up about her sexuality, calling out people on their "old way of thinking" and sharing her thoughts on the bi-sexual stigma.

Patrick Demarchelier/GLAMOUR

Cara, who is currently promoting her new film 'Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets', shared her frustrations with Aboah about coming out as bisexual:

"Once I spoke about my sexual fluidity, people were like, 'So you’re gay'. And I’m like, 'No, I’m not gay'. A lot of the friends I have who are straight have such an old way of thinking. It’s “So you’re just gay, right?” [They] don’t understand it."

Patrick Demarchelier/GLAMOUR

Cara continued: "[If] I’m like, 'Oh, I really like this guy,' [they’re like], 'But you’re gay.' I’m like, 'No, you’re so annoying!' Someone is in a relationship with a girl one minute, or a boy is in a relationship with a boy, I don’t want them to be pigeonholed." She added, "Imagine if I got married to a man. Would people be like ... 'She lied to us!'"

And despite her frustrations on the subject, she is happy it has become easier to speak about it:

"I know 13- and 15-year-old girls who are like, “I don’t know if I like a boy or a girl yet. I haven’t decided.” And it’s like—[imagine] if I was able to comprehend [that at their age]. I am very happy how sexuality has become easier and freer to talk about, especially for kids."

Cara served up serious sass with this high pony and glowy bronzed make-up look. Has she been taking tips from Ariana Grande? J'adore!

Cara debuted a softer look with this grown out pixie crop cut and we are loving it.

    Getty Images

Cara gave us a lesson in red-carpet ready beauty with this slicked back style offset by a heavy smokey eye. J'adore!

    Getty Images

We adore Cara's effortless waterfall braid for the Dior AW19 show. Is there any style she doesn't suit?

    Getty Images

Cara debuted her brunette hair during Paris Fashion Week, and wow, does she look good! Very à la française, Cara wore her pixie with a beret and paired the look with strong eye makeup.

    Getty Images

Cara Delevingne has gone full brunette and she looks so different (and badass). Is there anything this woman can't pull off?

    Getty Images

Cara has dabbled with some pastel hair dye and we love it. The pinky-lilac locks compliment her glossy makeup and pink lip shade perfectly.

Another day of promotion for Valerian..., another incredible beauty look. We love the brave eye and lip makeup combination, and her short 'do is still looking major. We'd expect nothing less from Ms. Delevingne!

    Getty Images

Cara has been serving looks while promoting her new film 'Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets'. And at the London premiere, the star showed off what is possibly the cutest hairstyle for pixie cuts.

    Rex Features

Cara's grown-out buzzcut allows her to rock a vintage-inspired 'do which we're loving. Her makeup is looking tip-top here, too.

    Rex Features

Who'd have thought orange hues would work on the eyes and the lips... together?!

    Getty Images

And just look at the hairstyle she wore with it. Seriously amazing!

    Getty Images

Cara looked exceptional at the Dior garden party in July 2017. Her icy blonde short locks are still going strong, and we love the makeup she's chosen here.

    Getty Images

Woah - hell yes to Cara's buzzcut hair and amazing makeup in this snap. We are in <3.

    Getty Images

Cara recently cut her hair into an ultra short buzzcut for a role. This is most certainly proof she can pull off just about any look.

    Getty Images

Here it is from the back at the MTV Movie Awards 2017.

    Getty Images

Yes - finally a full view of Cara's ace new locks! Her silvery ice blonde hair looks dreamy with her iconic dark brows.

    Getty Images

Cara showed off her new icy locks backstage at the AW17 Fenty x Puma show. Her mane looked especially chic paired with this lilac colour.

    Getty Images

We have to say, we're rather obsessed with Cara's latest look: silvery grey locks. She pulls off the look so well, and combines her new colour with an even shorter cut.

    Rex Features

At a Rimmel event, Cara rocked her classic big brows, nude lips and a topknot.

    Getty Images

Cara looked absolutely INCREDIBLE at the Burberry SS17 show during London Fashion Week. The eye makeup and tousled hair make for the prettiest beauty look in the FROW.

    Getty Images

We love Cara's soft smokey eye and dreamy nude lips

    Getty Images

Cara showed off her new short locks while out and about, but this time instead of curling them, she wore them in a gorgeously sleek straight style.

    Getty Images

We're so obsessed with Cara Delevingne's short, choppy bob. Serious hair goals right here. The supermodel-turned-actress decided to go for the chop ahead of her appearance at Comic-Con to promote her new movie, Valerian and The City Of A Thousand Planets.

    Rex Features

Cara proves a slicked-back style doesn't have to look harsh. The bold brows and glossy lips give it a retro feel.

    Getty Images

We can't believe how incredible Cara looked at the 216 MTV Awards. Her signature brows, grey-brown lips and perfect parting plait were seriously on point.

    Getty Images

When Cara Delevingne rocked up at the Women In The World summit, she called on Fred Letailleur, Northern European Makeup Artist for YSL Beauté. Fred wanted to give her a fresh and natural look that wouldn't distract from what she had to say.
For Cara’s base, Fred chose Le Teint Touche Éclat B30 and the iconic Touche Éclat pen to add light.
For the eyes, Fred wanted to keep Cara’s look natural, but still define her eye shape so he combined grey Couture Mono Eyeshadow (number 5) and the brown (number 11) and then shaped her infamous brows with a touch of colour.
He completed Cara’s look with Rouge Pur Couture YSL Lipstick in shade number 70.
    All in all – gorgeous!

Wow. Cara D looked simple stunning at the Chanel SS16 show. Rocking gorgeous tousled hair with grey smokey eyes and pearlised lips - we'll be emulating this look ASAP.

    Getty Images

Cara proved further why she's one of the most sought after faces on the planet the the New York Paper Towns premiere. Just look at that money maker...

    Getty

Cara works a dramatic orange eyes look (a la our fashion director Natalie Hartley) and a slick-back half-up-half-down hairstyle at the Australian premiere of [i]Paper Towns</i. in Sydney.

    Getty Images

In Madrid for the Paper Towns photocall, Cara channeled lady-like luxe with a big bouncy blowdry, classic crimson lips and feline flicks. Totally gorgeous.

    Getty Images

As if we could miss Cara D in this outfit, the Brit beauty adds to the drama of this look with fashion forward side swept curls and seriously smoky eyes.

    Rex Features

Proving this girl can rock any look, the Brit model attended an event in St. Tropez in the summer of 2014 working dark and moody smokey eyes and a very berry lip.

    Getty Images

A signature look if ever there was one; dark brunette brows coupled with centre-parted ash blonde hair is how we've come to know and love Cara.

    Rex Features

At the annual Serpentine Summer Party in July 2014, Cara let her simple Mulberry gown do the talking with this high-rise swept-back ponytail. Perfectly groomed brows and metallic liquid liner gave the whole look a distinctly 60s feel.

    Rex Features

Remember when Cara rocked this punky raven 'do at Jeremy Scott in 2012? The Brit model totally nailed the new hair hue and proved herself quite the beauty chameleon at the same time.

    Rex Features

We know that with Cara it's all about the statement brows, but the GLAMOUR Awards red carpet in 2013 saw a bit of a departure from her signature beauty look with her rocking a bold red lippy, 80s supermodel-style.

    Rex Features

At the Anna Sui show in 2013, Cara looked divine with this swinging 60s liner and beehive ponytail-come-bun hairdo. Whilst we can't imagine Cara working such a look on the red carpet, she looks catwalk ready here.

    GoRunway

Fresh from sister Poppy's wedding in May 2014, Cara Delevingne almost stole the show in her Roberto Cavalli gown, metallic smokey make-up and a gorgeous ballet bun.

    Rex Features

The backless dress also gave the model the opportunity to show off her 'do - and new tattoo as well!

    Rex Features

Channelling her inner punk, only supermodel Cara Delevingne could pull off a quiff this tall. At a Cannes Film Festival party in 2013, the Brit beauty put the competition in the shade with this high-rise plaited 'do and super smokey eye make-up.

    Getty Images

Centre-parted glossy mid-length blonde locks with just a slight wave through the lengths is Cara's winning every day hair and beauty look.

    Rex Features

...The girl can even do windswept.

    Wenn

At the 2013 Serpentine Summer Party, Cara worked a sleek and tight ballet bun for the occassion with unusual and long tendrils peering out from around the hairline. The copper metallic wash across her eyelids takes the 'do to the next level though - as does that bejewelled ear cuff.

    PA Photos

At a previous Marc By Marc Jacobs show, Cara's look was totally turned on its head with this 70s throwback inspired 'do. Huge barrelled curls with oodles of volume were topped off with a blood red lip.

    Go Runway

Ever wondered what Cara might look like with a fringe? Well, wonder no more. At an Emilio Pucci, Delevingne had a bold, thick-cut brow skimming one which looked nothing short of fantastic.

    GoRunway

Don't waste time making curls and waves super-tidy: make like Cara on a night out and wear your long blond locks loose and lovely, with just a bit of serum through the lengths to keep your locks frizz-free.

    Rex Features

At the 2013 Met Ball with a punk theme, Cara wore studded Burberry Prorsum and went to her red carpet beauty go-to of side-swept but maintaining the punk elements with that single braid.

    Rex Features

Midnight blue smokey eyes with thick fluttery lashes were a sultry accompaniment to Cara's cornrow-inspired plaits at London Fashion Week party.

    Getty Images

Our favourite Cara look to date? Well, it might just be this super-choppy short bob with blunt-cut cropped fringe she sported at Marc Jacobs at the close of NYFW a couple of years ago. Yes, we know it was a wig but she rocked it!

    Rex

With the theme being old Hollywood glamour, side-swept waves were - again - the order of the day for Cara at the 2013 Met Ball Gala in New York.

    Rex Features

Keeping her classically styled hair modern and oh-so-Cara, Ms. Delevingne added this sleek and chic sparkly hair accessory to keep her locks in place.

    Rex Features

Another side-parted 'do with a thick braid almost down to her neck, we reckon these a great look to copy for festivals.

    Rex Features

Trust Cara Delevingne to vamp it up at Cannes. In 2013, the model’s tresses were unkempt and swept to the right, while her lips and nails were an edgy shade of red to match her glossy burnt red lip colour. And being Cannes, of course she was also dripping in vintage diamonds.

    Rex Features

Cara is a regularly at Cannes and with it's undeniable glamour, the Film Festival is the place to experiment with high-octane, super-dooper beauty looks and this dramatic side-swept 'do with cherry red lips is a bit of a departure from Cara's usual look, making it all the more special.

    Rex Features

One of Cara's earlier red carpet appearances and she was already showing a penchant for the high rise ballet bun. This version of the old classic, creating a sectioned swirling effect managed to tread the line between cute and high-fashion.
