Morocco have tried to convince the teenager to switch his allegiances ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations

Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has reiterated his dream to represent France in the future.

The midfielder has caught the eye since joining the Gunners from Lorient for £7 million ($9m) in the summer.

Guendouzi has featured regularly in the Premier League for Arsenal while he scored his first professional goal against Qarabag in the Europa League in October.

Such form led to the 19-year-old being called up for the France Under-21 side, making his debut in the 2-2 draw with Croatia's U21s on November 15.

It represented the next step for Guendouzi, who has now played for France at four youth levels from U18 to U21.

Born in Poissy, a suburb of Paris, Guendouzi also has partial Moroccan heritage and had been approached about switching his allegiances ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations .

However, the Arsenal youngster clarified his international future when asked after France U21's draw with Croatia.

"Since I was young, I've always played with the French teams," he said in quotes reported by Canal+ .

"It's a dream to play with the France senior team.

"And I'm hoping to get there, it's a dream for me to make it happen."

Morocco have succeeded in persuading a number of players to switch allegiances in recent years, including Hakim Ziyech and Younes Belhanda.

Guendouzi's impressive display against Croatia's U21s will serve as a boost for Arsenal ahead of a tough run of games coming up.

Unai Emery's men face Bournemouth, Tottenham and Manchester United in their next three Premier League fixtures.
