Clarkson is preparing to relaunch his career with a new motoring show Amazon Prime after being axed by the BBC in March.
The new show, rumoured to be called Gear Knobs, will reunite the petrol head with fellow ex-Top Gear hosts James May and Richard Hammond.
But the trio have been recognised for their contributions to the BBC show with a nomination in the Factual Entertainment category.
They are up against 15 shows, including 2014 winner Gogglebox, Countryfile, Antiques Roadshow, Storage Hunters and DIY SOS: The Big Build.
The star-studded ceremony takes place on Wednesday January 20 and will be broadcast live on ITV.
Last week outspoken Clarkson made his return to the BBC by guest-hosting satirical panel show Have I Got News For You.
He suffered a verbal battering from the show's guests, Ian Hislop, Paul Merton, comedian Richard Osman and journalist Camilla Long.
Encountering a sound problem during filming, Osman told him: "This wouldn't happen on Amazon Prime. Are you sure it's Amazon Prime and not Amazon past-their-prime?"
And he made a sly reference to Clarkson's Top Gear successor during a segment about the car maker Volkswagen, saying: "Jeremy, have you got Chris Evans' phone number?"
Clarkson replied: "I am not allowed on the BBC to use the C-word. Cars."

The star, 55, recently revealed he checked himself into a "Stone Age" rehabilitation centre after being axed from Top Gear.
He said: "Back in the summer it was decided by people with serious faces and stethoscopes that I needed a complete break.
"And they weren't talking about two weeks in the sun with a book, and a million cocktail parties every night. They were talking about a whole month in the Stone Age."
