Larry Charles, the director of Borat, is back with a new near-the-knuckle satire: and he's cast Nicolas Cage as the lead.

Cage will star as Gary Faulkner, a real-life construction worker from Colorado who tried to get into Pakistan and Afghanistan on numerous occasions trying to find Osama Bin Laden.

Charles' film, Army of One, is loosely based on a US GQ article by British writer Chris Heath about Faulkner's mission, and is set to start filming at the end of March.

No casting details have been revealed for Bin Laden. Charles' previous credits include Sacha Baron Cohen films The Dictator and Bruno.

Harvey and Bob Weinstein have bought the North American rights to the film. Bob said in a statement: “For many years I’ve been a fan of Larry Charles, from his work on Seinfeld to Borat and Bruno and, most recently The Dictator."
