Clarkson rolls with the punches on his BBC return

Former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson had a bumpy ride on his first appearance on the BBC since he was sacked for punching a producer.

In his role as host of the satirical news quiz Have I Got News For You, Clarkson frequently found himself the butt of jokes made by a panel comprised of his fellow Sunday Times columnist Camilla Long, Private Eye editor Ian Hislop, comedian Paul Merton and television presenter Richard Osman.

One of the biggest laughs from the studio audience came after the screening of a clip of ex-boxer Ronnie Pickering becoming embroiled in a road-rage incident. Osman said to Clarkson, “I bet Chris Evans is ringing him even now, don’t you think?”

Clarkson shook his head and looked away, before Long turned to the host and said, “Go on Jeremy, punch him.”

Regular team captains Hislop and Merton also quipped at Clarkson’s expense. The Private
