This expert does Some people think kisses like these are ‘too sexual’ (Picture: Alamy) Parents are getting involved in a huge debate after a doctor’s comment that kissing your kids on the lips is ‘too sexual’ resurfaced. An article in Your Tango on whether to kiss your kids on the lips or not referenced the controversial statement made by child psychologist and UCLA professor Dr. Charlotte Reznick. Dr. Reznick said: ‘The kiss on the lips can be stimulating … It’s just too confusing. If mommy kisses daddy on the mouth and vice versa, what does that mean, when I, a little girl or boy, kiss my parents on the mouth? ‘If I had to answer when to stop kissing your kids on the lips, it would be now.’ EXF8YY Close up of boy kissing mother in field Is this natural or perverted? (Picture: Alamy) The comments have strongly divided parents and created a heated debate online and on the radio. Some parents can’t even believe that this is a problem I just saw a news headline "Don't kiss your kids on the lips- too sexual." I don't want to live on this earth anymore. — Dylan (@dylannoel82) August 20, 2015 Many are proud to show their love for their kids and still do with a kiss @jonesk1711 plus my kids all kiss me on the lips and I still kiss my parents that way too. Expert my arse. — Catherine Kenny (@C66Kenny) August 20, 2015 Others feel it it’s fine to kiss little ones, but that it’s natural to grow out of the habit I mean I don't kiss my kids on the lips now cause their older but as younger kids it was a show of love & affection. For your child !! :-) — chris threadgate (@CThreadgate) August 21, 2015 But others agree with the ‘expert’ and find it creepy Am I the only one who gets extremely creeped out when parents kiss their kids on the lips? I can't be… — Victoria M. Phillips (@victoriamargaux) August 12, 2015 Some even find the practice perverted I might be a perv, but not kiss my kids on the lips level of perv. — Bloody Mary (@tanialunreal) August 19, 2015 Other experts completely disagree with Dr. Reznick. Clinical psychologist Sally-Anne McCormack told The Sun: ‘There’s absolutely no way that kissing a young child on the lips is confusing for them in any way. ‘That’s like saying breastfeeding is confusing. Some people might have issues with it, but it isn’t any more sexual than giving a baby a back rub.’ More ChildrenFamiliesParenting * [image-69.png?crop=80px%2C0px%2C480px%2C360px&resize=480%2C360 &quality=80&strip=all&w=100&h=75] Toddler falls from second-floor window - and survives unharmed * [kidsflush.jpg?quality=80&strip=all&w=100&h=75& crop=1] Toilet flush gadget for kids means you'll never have to pre-flush again * [woman1.jpg?quality=80&strip=all&w=100&h=75&cro p=1] Sponsored13 life hacks to get you through this winter * [463550772.jpg?crop=84px%2C0px%2C912px%2C684px&resize=480%2C36 0&quality=80&strip=all&w=100&h=75] 27 tweets that sum up having a dad * [creme-egg-pic.jpg?crop=0px%2C100px%2C800px%2C600px&resize=480 %2C360&quality=80&strip=all&w=100&h=75] Important: Cadbury is opening a three-floor Creme Egg cafe in London * [dog-and-elephant.png?crop=42px%2C0px%2C580px%2C435px&resize=4 80%2C360&quality=80&strip=all&w=100&h=75] Baby elephant rejected by herd finds new family, and a dog The Fix More sex.
