Culture News Marcus Brigstocke: Mock the Week is 'terrible' Marcus Brigstocke, the comedian, says the BBC needs to raise its game when it comes to satire Marcus Brigstocke, the satirist best known for The Now Show Marcus Brigstocke, the satirist best known for The Now Show Photo: Steve Meddle/ITV/REX Tim Walker By Tim Walker 7:28AM BST 11 Oct 2014 Follow Comments Comments Goodness knows, there’s been little to laugh about on the news lately, but Marcus Brigstocke, the satirist best known for The Now Show, reckons it’s time the BBC raised its game. “I mean, Mock the Week is terrible. It’s like the BBC have thought, 'that’s it, we’ve done our bit, we’ve got our bit of topical satire,’ and given up.” He adds that Channel 4 isn’t much better. “They attempted a satirical show with 10 0’Clock Live, but then they got Jimmy Carr to host it. Indeed, a serious gardener would now be concerned with cutting back unwanted growth and applying manure in order to achieve sound growth. Least said, soonest mended about his insight into the financial services aspect of his brief. Ahoy! It’s perhaps not behaviour befitting a woman of her station, but Lady Clara Paget, the Marquess of Anglesey’s actress daughter, has enrolled at pirate school. “I have just gone to pirate camp to train for the next season of Black Sails,” she tells me at the launch of the book The Glamour of Leicester Square at W London. “I am training with all the boys, my body doesn’t know what’s hit it.” Clara insists she has the upper hand on the men. “I’ve been helping them.” [BoxOffice_540x147_3394074a.jpg] Culture News * News » * UK News » * Celebrity news » * TV and Radio » * BBC » Related Partners * Love puzzles?
