By Honest John 7:00AM BST 07 Jul 2009 I use a railway-station car park managed by an enforcement agency. One of its attendants recently put a penalty fare notice on my screen, even though I had purchased a valid ticket. I sent the PFN back, along with a covering letter and a copy of my ticket receipt, to point out the error. This was ignored and the matter was placed in the hands of the enforcement agency's solicitors, who obtained my details from the DVLA (they told me so in writing). I was advised to pay, so I wrote back asking for evidence of my alleged misdeed and provided a copy of my earlier correspondence. I have since been told that a clerical error was made and the matter is being dropped. Any thoughts? What they are doing is a wholesale abuse of the Data Protection Act and I'd like to see it challenged in court.
