Jade: Equitable and Merciful

Jade was considered a royal gem in Ancient China from the earliest dynasties up until present times, and is inextricably woven into ancient and modern Chinese culture. The use of jade in China dates back some 8,000 to 12,000 years, and was an integral part of commercial, religious and ceremonial life throughout this region. Although the finest jade was reserved for the Imperial courts, the use of jade in everyday life crossed all socioeconomic boundaries (it was used to create many utilitarian and ceremonial objects, ranging from indoor decorative items to jade burial suits). Known from legend as «the Stone of Heaven», jade attained a position in the religious and cultural life of the people that has not been seen with any other natural substance in any other time or culture.

The Palais Royal - The Place of Cardinal Richelieu

The Palais-Royal is a steady group of arches despite a long history of construction, built by Cardinal Richelieu and the guide-books tell us that the French consider the «arcade» as a road  that may be passed from one street to another and that is assigned for the pedestrians only. The stores in the arcades are splendid and luxury, though the goods they offer are found a little bit more expensive. People arrange meetings or dating in the arcades in the bad seasons. Usually arches are illuminated with gas lanterns.  There are over six thousand streets in Paris today. And approximately 280 out of the total number are called arcades, though only 30 of them correspond to the definition given by Richard in 1828 in the guide book to Paris.

Nicole Kidman: Cinderella as the Icon of Style

Thursday, 12 March 2009

Nicole Kidman styleFirst debuts to the society are often unsuccessful. In the early nineties a tall skinny woman with light-red hair named Nicole Kidman hardly seemed to get a future icon of style. She was clumsy; she used to wear casually for social functions as if she goes shopping for food. And she was not obviously aware what style of hairdo, clothes and color suits her. She will meet the popular stylists only far in the future. Now, we will see her style changed by time.

In June 1993 Nicole attends the ceremony in Hollywood when Tom Cruise has to leave impression of hands in the concrete. Surely Nicole quivers when she remembers her image of that time. A straw hat, pigtails, floweret dress and something like white sandals. Not very winning attire. Especially for her debut. But on the other hand she looks like a good girl and exemplary housewife, and may be, this is an ideal for Tom Cruise.

In March 1997 Nicole and Tom attend the ceremony of Oscar nod presented in Los Angeles. And Nicole puts on the dress by Johh Galliano for Christian Dior. And there are first signs that Nicole can be stylish and fashionable. She looks dazzlingly and exotic. The embroidery on her dress evokes associations with Asia. However, this is not her best make-up and her too dark lips visually make a young Nicole much older than she is. Yet, the brighter shade of her dress in combination with the inexpressive color of hair makes her hairdo something rather blushes.

Nicole is at her first night of «Eyes Wide Shut» in Los Angeles in July 1999. She still seeks for her own image; yet, she still tries colors and shapes. Quite an open dress of lavender reveals the beauty of her shapes and she really has what to show! However this is not yet this elegant Nicole we know!

Nicole attends the function devoted to A Golden Globe Award presentation in January 2003, Los Angeles. Kidman just divorces Tom Cruise and now she rushes towards vivid images and interesting roles in fact. Just have a look at this lovely dolly! Yves Saint Laurent dress with pompous train attracts attention to her splendid shapely legs. She is very shapely and her image is elegance now! By the way, she is awarded one of the Globes then!

Nicole attends the «Matt and Ben» performance in August 2003 in New York. And, thought, it is not very brilliant of her images but it's fairly significant. She gets more and more elegant by the time. And she never looks boring.

At nomination of another Golden Globe Awards in January 2004, in Los Angeles, Kidman reveals her first signs to become an icon of style. It is not her best image though she looks brilliant, well-tended and cared, she draws everyone's attention and you want to look and read her more and more. Wearing a dress by Yves Saint Laurent, she embodies some retro breath to in a band round her head and charming ringlets.

At the Golden Globe Award ceremony in 2005 Nicole appears in a rather unusual attire. A clinging dress with a peacock feather accentuating one shoulder. Neither striking jewelry nor fanciful hairstyle, and this is quite adequate: with such an accessory as a feather all the rest will disturb the image only. And whether this image suits her or not is arguable. At least, not very beaten.

In June 2005 Nicole visits David Letterman Show in New York. She wears a Givenchy vintage dress and the actress shows the style of Hollywood golden age. Womanly tight fitted dress and soft curls. And because of the waist high-line Nicole's legs look even longer and splendid.

At the ceremony of Oscar prize in March 2006 in Los Angeles Nicole proves that the more is not the better. In a plain white dress by Balenciaga she looks glaring without any stunning accessories and an evening hairdo. Her dress looks luxury for the embroidery and it favorably accentuates her nice shapes. Long undone hair is a perfect complement to the plain long dress. Impeccable image, like a real Queen.

At the anniversary to the 80th ceremony of Oscar prize presentations held in February 2008 Nicole looks even more brilliant than ever. A plain silk dress of black color by Balenciaga and diamond necklace in 1399-carat. That is the masterpiece of the stylist and the designer L'Wren Scott who often makes her images, by the way. Yet, in combination with light-red hair her attire and she herself look very luxury and stunning.

When the actress appears at the press-conference in April 2008 held in New York, it is obvious that she is pregnant. And therefore, her style and look get more relaxed and softer. However, she never looks casual. You pay attention at her hairdo, it is well-done.

Nicole Kidman attends the ceremony of the Best Country Singers in May 2008 in Las Vegas. And now her pregnancy is very difficult to hide even with the puffy dresses. A charming dress by Yves Saint Laurent with the waist line accentuated under the breast. It seems that she has not put on any weight. If only all of us could look like Nicole when we are pregnant!

La Redoute

Shopping was always the way for a woman to relieve from stress, depression and rise the mood, and most of women still feel hesitated to order clothes in Internet-shops or by the catalogues. On one part, this way, women fail to enjoy strolling through the line of shops and stores, trying this and that for hundred times, thinking of what to choose, the better but expensive or cheaper but of poorer quality. Shopping is the proved anti-depressant, though, on the other part, it requires time for that, time that is scarce with any woman, and in most cases men accompanying women are short of time and who lose their temper much faster when walking through the endless shelves with clothes and shoes.

How to Get Rid of Double Chin

Medically speaking, the repulsive, unattractive and ugly fold called double chin is a phenomenon that is caused by a layer of subcutaneous fat around the neck that droops down and creates a wrinkle, making the owner appear to have a second chin. However, we, regular folks, are in no way relieved by this scientific explanation: this fold makes our face look ugly, distorts our face shape, and makes us look generally fatter and older than we really are. Interestingly, a double chin is present not only in obese or elderly people, but also in quite slender young people, predominantly women. Fatty crease in the chin area can be blamed on the age-related changes in the body which can be addressed, on the excess of adipose tissue in the body which is easy to get rid of, and finally, on the anatomical features of the face and jaw, which causes a lot of trouble, anxiety, and complexes.
