The 2010 Cornell Icon of the Industry Awards Dinner will take place on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 in New York City. The 2010 honoree and venue will be announced this fall.

Nominations for 2010 Icon of the Industry

The School is accepting nominations for next year's Icon of the Industry award recipient. You may nominate an individual here. Criteria for nominees are:

          • lifetime achievements in the hospitality industry and
          • contributions to his or her community or society.

2009 Highlights

More than 500 hospitality industry leaders, Cornell alumni, and members of the media gathered for the School of Hotel Administration's first annual Icon of the Industry Awards Dinner. All of the proceeds from the gala event, which was held at the New York Marriott Marquis on June 2, 2009, will benefit the School's scholarships and programs. View event photos here.

J. W. "Bill" Marriott, Jr., chairman and CEO, Marriott International, Inc., was honored as the first winner of the Cornell Icon of the Industry Award. Following the event, Marriott expressed his appreciation for the tribute, saying, "Thank you for a really terrific evening. Everything was superb. This year's winners of the Leland C. and Mary M. Pillsbury Institute for Hospitality Entrepreneurship's Hospitality Innovator Award were Fred Malek, CEO and Co-Founder, TIG Global, and Trip Schneck, President and Co-Founder, TIG Global.
