Fort Duquesne Bridge to close; parkway work rolls on

Allegheny County

Blackburn Road, Sewickley Heights -- Closed between Hill Street and Thawmont Road until Saturday due to the collapse of an additional 100 feet of retaining wall adjacent to the current work area.

Blythedale Road, Elizabeth Township -- Reduced to alternating single-lane traffic because of collapse of the northbound lane between Shaler Street and Fallen Timber Road.

Browns Hill Road, Squirrel Hill -- Lane restrictions during project to add turn lanes. Work to be suspended for winter after Thanksgiving.

Cochrans Mill Road, Jefferson Hills -- Closed between Stilley Road and West Bruceton Road until Feb. 1 for bridge replacement. Detour posted.

Dorrington Road, Collier -- Bridge closed over Robinson Run between Cluxton Street and Noblestown Road around the clock through April 2010. Road open to local traffic only.

East Carson Street, South Side -- South 28th Street closed between Sarah Street and East Carson Street from 7:30 a.m. Monday until Oct. 31 to accommodate paving of East Carson. East Carson tentatively scheduled for full closure on Saturday.

Fort Duquesne Bridge, Downtown -- Intermittent lane closures 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday on the lower deck. Full closure of upper deck next weekend starting at 9 p.m. Friday.

Fox Chapel Road, Powers Run Road, O'Hara, Fox Chapel -- Lane closures 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays through early November on Fox Chapel Road between Highland Road and Chapel Ridge Road and on Powers Run Road north of Yorkshire Drive during pipeline repairs.

Glass Run Road, Baldwin Borough -- Closed between East Carson Street and Cathell Road for water main replacement until mid-November.

Graham Road, Pine -- Closed between Pearce Mill Road and English Road until summer 2012 during replacement of a Pennsylvania Turnpike bridge.

Green Commons Drive, Scott -- Closed through Saturday from Vanadium Road to Kane Boulevard for reconstruction.

Hulton Bridge, Oakmont -- Alternating single-lane traffic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays from Monday through Nov. 3 during inspection. No weekend work.

Interstate 79 -- Northbound left lane closed near the bridge over the Pennsylvania Turnpike until 6 a.m. Monday. Off-ramp to Route 19 open.

Neville Island Bridge restricted to one lane in each direction nightly from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. during the week and from 8 p.m. Fridays through 6 a.m. Mondays, through late November, except no work Sunday. Two lanes open in each direction at other times.

One lane closed in both directions between Crafton and Coraopolis, with traffic stoppages up to 15 minutes possible, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays through mid-November during Forest Grove Road Bridge construction.

Jefferson Heights Road, Penn Hills -- Bridge over Parkway East closed through end of year for rehabilitation. Detour posted.

Leech Farm Road, Lincoln-Lemington -- Closed between Highland Drive and Wiltsie Street through Nov. 6 during slab replacement. Detours posted.

Liberty Tunnels -- Inbound tunnel closed for major rehabilitation Sundays through Thursdays from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. through late August 2010.

Light Rail Transit -- Wood Street and Gateway Center stations closed weekends until 1:21 a.m. Saturday, when Gateway Center will close for construction for two years. Shuttle buses to operate from Steel Plaza.

Old State Road, Pine -- Closed between Whippoorwill Hill Road and Fox Hollow Lane for replacement of a Pennsylvania Turnpike bridge through mid-summer 2012. Detour posted.

McKees Rocks Bridge -- Closed to all traffic through 6 a.m. Monday. Single lane in each direction at other times, through mid-November.

Parkway East -- Outbound side closed from Business Route 22 (Exit 80) to Plum/Monroeville (Exit 84) during placement of beams for the new bridge that will carry Jefferson Heights Road over the parkway until 10 a.m. Sunday and from 7 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Two lanes closed outbound in the area of the Garden City Drive overpass from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Inbound traffic reduced to one lane between Plum (Exit 84) and Penn Hills (Exit 81) through 5 a.m. Monday.

Parkway North -- One lane closed southbound from I-79 to Bellevue-West View until 11 a.m. Sunday. Single-lane traffic between Bellevue-West View and I-79 weeknights through Friday morning; northbound from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., southbound from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Parkway West -- Outbound ramp to westbound Steubenville Pike/Route 22/30 closed through late October. Inbound parkway reduced to a single lane near Steubenville Pike from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday nights. Ramp from westbound Steubenville Pike to the inbound parkway closed during those times.

Rankin Bridge -- Restricted to one lane in each direction during rehabilitation project scheduled for September 2010 completion.

Route 8, Etna -- Closed southbound to the 62nd Street Bridge from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday. Motorists able to access ramps to Route 28 northbound and southbound.

Route 8, Hampton -- Lane closures 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. between Wildwood Road and the Pennsylvania Turnpike during resurfacing through mid-November.

Route 28, Shaler, Etna, Millvale -- Single-lane traffic on northbound Route 28 from Exit 4 in Etna to Exit 5A Sharpsburg from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays through Wednesday.

Single-lane traffic southbound from the Highland Park Bridge to the Etna interchange from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays through Wednesday. Some weekend work may also occur, if necessary, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

Closed to northbound through traffic at Etna interchange (Exit 5A). Detour posted.

Route 28, Harrison -- Northbound on- and off-ramps at Burtner Road (Exit 15) closed around-the-clock through early November.

Route 65, Avalon -- One lane closed in both directions between the bridge over Dilworth Run near Wendy's and Locust Street from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through mid-November during tree and roadside clearance for widening project that will start in the spring.

Route 88, Castle Shannon -- Alternating single-lane traffic from Castle Shannon Boulevard to Sixth Street/Killarney Drive from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly through late October during water main relocation.

Route 366, Tarentum -- Single-lane traffic, possible brief stoppages and changing travel patterns between West Seventh Avenue and East 10th Avenue daily from 4 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Friday during concrete slab replacement.

Squirrel Hill Tunnel -- One lane closed outbound from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday and Monday nights; one lane closed inbound at same times Tuesday and Wednesday.

Steubenville Pike, Robinson -- Traffic reduced to single lane in each direction between Park Manor Drive and Montour Church Road during Route 22/30/60 interchange reconfiguration. Two ramps closed until late October: outbound Parkway West ramp to westbound Steubenville Pike and westbound Steubenville Pike ramp to outbound parkway.

Tri-Boro Expressway -- Expressway/Braddock Avenue closed in both directions from O'Connell Boulevard to Cable Avenue for bridge replacement. Also, East Pittsburgh-McKeesport Boulevard closed from Elder Street to the Tri-Boro Expressway. Main Street under the bridge closed from Braddock Avenue to Bessemer Avenue, all until late this year.

Westinghouse Bridge -- Two lanes closed, single-lane traffic maintained in each direction, until November.

Wexford Bayne Road, Marshall -- Single-lane traffic in both directions in the area of the bridge over I-79 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

Whittengale Road, North Fayette -- Alternating single-lane traffic continues between Noblestown Road and North Branch Road during slide repairs. Flag crews control traffic weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. until the project is completed Nov. 6.

Armstrong County

Route 422, East Franklin -- Long-term lane closures planned through September 2010 during rehabilitation of two bridges over Route 28.

Beaver County

Route 60 -- Single-lane traffic southbound near the Route 51/Chippewa interchange (Exit 23) around-the-clock through late November.

Butler County

Cliff Street, Butler -- Closed as part of the Route 356 Wayne Avenue Bridge project through Nov. 16. Detour on East Cunningham Street to McKean Street to East Jefferson Street (Route 68) to Main Street (Route 8) and ending back on Wayne Street.

Hartmann Road/Harmony Junction Bridge, Jackson -- Closed for reconstruction expected to continue until June 2010. Detour via Routes 68 and 19 and Little Creek and Seneca School roads.

Fayette County

Route 119, North Union and South Union -- Northbound lanes closed from Redstone Creek Bridge to approximately 1,500 feet past the Gallatin Avenue interchange for Mon-Fayette Expressway construction through Nov. 13. Northbound traffic shifted to southbound lanes, one lane in each direction. Also, the ramp to Route 51 will be closed from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. Monday through Friday. Detour posted.

Indiana County

Smicksburg Bridge, Smicksburg and West Mahoning -- Replacement project reduces Route 954 to one-way alternating traffic until May 2010.

Mercer County

Interstate 80 -- Single-lane traffic possible from Ohio line to Mercer (Exit 15) except for weekends (4 p.m. Fridays until 6 a.m. Mondays). Work expected to be completed by May 2010 but will be suspended during winter.

Washington County

Charleroi-Monessen Bridge -- Closed after inspection revealed structural deficiencies.

Donora-Webster Bridge -- Closed until further notice.

Westmoreland County

Route 22, New Alexandria -- One lane in each direction from Route 982 to Auction Barn Road through September and from Auction Barn Road to the Indiana County line through July 2011.

Route 30, Hempfield/North Huntingdon -- Restricted to one lane in each direction between Arona Road and West Penn Drive/Possum Hollow Road during nighttime work.

Route 30, Unity -- Construction from Theater Street to Route 217 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly Sundays through Friday mornings, with lane restrictions and alternating traffic possible. Completion expected early November.
