     ごあいさつ

   　皆さまの暮らしや仕事に、朝日新聞は必要でしょうか。

   　日本の社会に、朝日新聞は必要でしょうか。

   　朝日新聞社に働く私たちは、そんな問いを自らにも発しながら、「日本にとって必要なジャーナリズム」を担いたいという気概を持って、読者の皆さまとと
   もに、新しい時代に向かって歩んでいきたいと思っています。

   　1879年（明治12年）1月25日の創刊以来、歴史を記録し、真実を追求して、広く報じるという、「社会の公器」としての新聞業の原点は、情報通信
   技術が発達し、メディア媒体が多様化した現代においても、変わることがありません。

   　「情報」があふれている日々のなかで、「もっと知りたい」「そこを知りたい」という読者の要求に応え、「そこまで調べたのか」「そんなことがあったの
   か」とうなずいていただけるような紙面を、全国津々浦々の配達網を通じて、確実にお届けすることが、私たちの目標です。紙面の質の向上のために、たゆま
   ぬ努力を続けていきます。

   　朝日新聞社の仕事は幅広く、編集、製作、販売、広告、事業、デジタルメディア、出版などの現場の活力が、会社を支えています。そして、新聞事業の足腰
   をさらに強固にするために、会社のあり方をどう改革していくかも、大きな課題です。新聞がみずみずしく生き続けるため、紙面も会社の組織も改革を続けな
   ければなりません。

   　読者の信頼を大切にしながら、言論・報道機関としての責務を全うしていきます。
