Lexico3 is the 2001 edition of the Lexico software, first published in 1990. Functions present from the first version (segmentation, concordances, breakdown in graphic form, characteristic elements and factorial analyses of repeated forms and segments) were maintained and for the most part significantly improved. The Lexico series is unique in that it allows the user to maintain control over the entire lexicometric process from initial
segmentation to the publication of final results. Beyond identification of graphic forms, the software allows for study of the identification of more complex units composed of form sequences: repeated segments, pairs of forms in co-occurrences, etc which are less ambiguous than the graphic forms that make them up.
The main improvement found in this version concerns an object-oriented program architecture.
The different interactive modules are now able to exchange more complex data (forms, repeated segments, future co-occurrences).
Thus it is now possible to send to the concordance module or to any of the other modules units established in the module of
repeated segments, lists of forms and segments established in the characteristic element modules, etc.
A veritable lexicometric browsing becomes possible.
Establishing form groups. The study of accidents that occur in the identification of a graphic form for different parts of
a text corpus inevitably raises questions as to the identification of other related graphic units (different manifestations
of the same lemma, related forms at the semantic level). New tools (search for common expressions) have been included that
simplify the search for such form groups.
Identification of lexicometric particularities. This new version allows for more precision in the characterization
of different parts of a corpus according to their most frequently employed forms by isolating sections of the text
in which this sort of distribution is particularly evident. Concretisation of these sections onto diagrams
that represent the text allow the creation of a veritable textual topography.
